Thomas asked Jesus a question that we all seem to ask: How can we enter Heaven? Everyone seems to know "the way:" through doing good deeds or going to church every Sunday or every holiday. But there is only one way to get to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. "I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me." (John 14:6)

Why is Jesus the only way? Why can't our own efforts get us to Heaven? "And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment." (Isaiah 64:6) All the good deeds and actions we do are spoiled by our sin. Sin is any moral wrong. Even if we do ten good things, one wrong thing will cancel it all out.

God knows our problem with sin and He sent us a solution: Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Because we've sinned, we've earned the punishment of death, but Christ died in our place and took our punishment away. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

"Ho do we know the way?"

We can establish our own personal relationship with Jesus through a simple prayer. That's all we have to do. "...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
